Freshman Student Orientation
KU offers one-day and two-day orientation programs. Students may select either program, but could be limited to a specific type of program based on their intended major. The advantages of each type of program are:
One-day program
- Provides a brief introduction into student life at KU.
- Convenience of driving in and out on the same day for local students.
Two-day program
- A more extensive overview of student life at KU and more time to experience KU and Lawrence.
- Ability to schedule morning travel on day 1 and afternoon travel on day 2 for non-local students.
Both programs have family and guest sessions geared towards their questions. All programs include advising and enrollment. Example schedules are listed below. Please arrange your travel plans after confirming your orientation date. Students should make plans to attend all parts of their orientation session.
NOTES
- Freshman are students who will graduate from high school in spring 2012. They are freshman at KU regardless of the number of college or advanced placement credits they have completed.
- Admitted Engineering and Business Leadership Program students will be required to attend a 2-day program.
- Non-traditional students may choose to attend a transfer day. Transfer sessions are geared towards students with more college and/or life experiences. Please contact New Student Orientation if you would rather attend a transfer program.
Session topics and times are subject to change. Students will be given an up-to-date program schedule during orientation.
